Four ways to find a McLennan County court date
- Ask the lawyer. If the defendant has an attorney, retained or appointed, the attorney gets the settings first. The county’s own pages say to contact your attorney about your court date.
- Misdemeanors: call the County Court at Law administrator at (254) 757-5030 and choose the court for your case. Filed misdemeanor cases are scheduled on either the criminal hearing list or the arraignment docket list, per the county Hearing Lists page.
- Felonies: search the District Clerk index. The District Clerk case search covers criminal and civil cases from 2001 on. The criminal division is at (254) 757-5054.
- Personal bond: check the Pretrial Services docket. It is posted as images on the Pretrial Services Office page and updated every Friday afternoon.
Why a case may not show up yet
A case appears on County Court at Law lists only after the Criminal District Attorney has filed it. Right after an arrest, it is normal for nothing to show up for days or weeks. Your bail bond paperwork, the bondsman, or the attorney is the best source in that gap.
The online county court docket
The county links to an online docket hosted outside its official website, and it requires registering an account to view. McLennan County notes it does not maintain that file server, so double-check any setting by phone.
Do not miss the date
Missing court can mean bond forfeiture, a new warrant, and in some cases a separate failure-to-appear charge. If you know you will miss a setting, call your lawyer and your bondsman before the date. Dress for court with no hats or shorts, and plan time for the courthouse security check at 501 Washington Avenue.
